Man, that had to be murder on those 2 strokes ( clutches that is ) Looks more like 4 stroke country to me. That area would be awsome on a 200X or 350X.

Im on my second clutch in 15 years. Guys who ride this stuff know that 70 mph gearing is laughable, and if you gear down to where you can ride low speeds without having the clutch half way in slipping it all day the clutch lasts a lot longer. Clutch slipping from gearing for highway riding is what eats clutchs, and its a myth that 2 strokes make lousey trail bikes.

Agreed, a lot of cross country riders use the two stroke dirtbikes. Out of curiosity was anyone on a 250 trike running stock gearing that day?

Chicken Hill is a piece of cake. You just have to pick the right path! It is on the left side, though. Going down is definately more hairy than going up! I have old video somewhere of me climbing it on the right with my TRX250 utility. The rocks werent sticking out quite so much back then!

I had my stupid 13 on the front that day, and it stunk. I still had a few extra teeth on the rear, but I normally run my 11 or 12 in the front.

I ran my TRX250R there with stock gearing, and it was miserable. The motor had little low end to begin with, and on top of that you had to be running about 15mph before you could let the clutch out. I ended up going from 13/39 to 11/46 on that turd.

Wow, maybe I need to change my gearing. I had stock gearing everytime I went so far! Tim's right, it sucks.
Actually I can only think of 2 times where I wished I had geared down. 1 was climbing the real rocky hill by Rt 7 and the other was when Jr stopped half way up a real long-steep hill, right in front of me. He just took right back off, never even flinched! Mean while I'm sliding backward down the hill trying to take off without killing it! LOL
Yea, lowerer gearing will make for an all around better day.

I can say that Tim sure knows his gearing. I watched him come rite up Devils Backbone at TF03 on his TriZ. I have not seen another trike come up it.

    Save the machines!!!!

You guys better not bust them things up trail riding BEFORE Feb 20th. I don't want to be the only 3 wheeler there. BTW, nice riding area ya got there. Looks like it would be real fun in the dryer season. I HATE MUD!!! (Too lazy to clean my machines)
