will liquid gasket work between cylinder and head?

the gasket with the metal ring around the cylinder ripped around one of the dowel pins creating a killer spark show when trying to ride the 200x. u could hear the compression escaping when trying to kick it over. Anyway I pulled the motor and tore it down, I got some liquid gasket stuff that hardens from the mechanics shop next door along with some liquid gasket that stays liquified. I applied some of the hardening gasket and let it set up a bit for a half hour, then put a little of the permanent liquid gasket around the edges like I was told. Its been sitting for 24 hours like it's supposed to. Do you think it will work or the compression will blow it right out?

Im having trouble picturing it. Ive used JB weld to build up voids in gasket surfases. You can sand it and use a level. On Sea Doo case halves there is no gasket. I used ThreeBond 1211 for years and never had a leak. Depends on how flat it is I guess. If you try to pach a hole with it it will blow out or suck in.

a piece of gasket ripped off. i'm hoping liquid gasket will work otherwise i'll have to order a new gasket which i really dont want to do..

I'd be amazed if that works for any length of time. Quality OEM head gaskets are the only way to go in my opinion. That's just not a place to try and save a few bucks.

i use rtv red..it works pretty good for a short time tho

yea, dont use RTV for a head gasket or base gasket, it will just lead to more hassel, i dont care who you are it just will. spend the 3$ and get a new head gasket

i dunno if i was u id just stick with oem gaskets..they are the best..besides rtv red.. the last couple gasket kits i bought are vesrah and cometic

I'm at my parents for my dad's B-day. I went to grab my crate full of other parts I still need to install. In a spare parts box I found the old head gasket in perfect shape! I'll see how long the rtv stuff works and when it blows back out i'll put in the old one.

I always like to do it right the 1st time unless it's an emergency and I MUST ride that day. Why fix it 1/2 fast and then have to do it again?

An old head gasket in perfect shape? No such thing. Once you torque them down , thats it, you should install another new one when taken apart again.

just use some old dentyne chewing gum. maybe some peanut butter. sheesh.....

absolutley do not use silicone gasket on a head! Here is what will happen. First it will either blow it out or suck it in, then the gob of goo will block an oil passage and you will starve some part of the engine for oil, thus leading to another dead trike. Pay your 3 bucks and fix it correctly or you may be sorry. I have seen more blue goo in places it should have never been in otherwise decent machines. Luckily, I got a hold of them and got rid of all the blooked oil passages before they totally grenaded.

yes i have seen that too, my friends 200s did that it siezed the cam in it, becuse of the load of silicone they used on it, i said dont but what ever they did and now hes payin for it....lol, as for not being able to re-use a copper head gasket is BS, if the head gasket is not bent you can clean it, put it on a clean surface and use a torch to heat it up untill it is a dull red , then quench it in water, place the head gasket on the bike insuring that your fingers do not touch it, it only takes a smidge of crap or oil from your finger to screw it up and risk the chance of an poor seal.....also clean gasket surfaces is a MUST.
