My trike drawings from back in the day

Back in the early 1980s I liked to draw trikes as much as riding them. This past weekend I found my old sketchbooks! Here are two genuine, vintage drawings made the old fashioned way.

The Honda was dated 1981. #43 was Curtis Sparks, right? The Yamaha was dated 1982 and looks like one of the old chain drive YTM 200 trikes. I don't know if it was anybody in particular or just a drawing of a trike.

I'm going to scan the sketchbooks to PDF for safe keeping since the paper is already starting to get brittle. If you guys like these I've got dozens more that I can post as I get them scanned.

Thanks for the kind words guys! Here's a few more. They're both dated 1982. The Yamaha looks like a 225DX. I'm guessing the honda is a 200X.

    Cheers!

I remember the Dirt Wheels issue that had that 200x with the paddles on it in your last post. It had a chrome supertrapp and headlight gaurd.

    Nice work!

They also tested the 1984 110 and the KLT 250 in that issue. Don't ask me how I remember.

    QUOTE]

I subscribed to Dirt Wheels, 3Wheeling, and a few other mags back then. In school I took an art course and we had to draw 3 sketches each week so I frequently just drew pictures out of magazines when I couldn't think of anything original to draw. (It's hard for me to "force" creativity - I sort of have to be in the mood to draw.) I don't remember which of these were completely original versus sketches of magazine pictures, but I'm glad you like them anyway. Good memory too!

    Hi Guys,

I finally had a minute to scan a few more... (Two of them aren't trikes but I thought they ya'll would enjoy them anyway.)

There will be more when I get more time to scan these old sketchbooks.

Those are really good, but the rear tires on both of the first two look like they have really skinny duallies.
