I don't know for sure about the 110.. but on the 200's if you follow the wire comming from the plug it connects to the frame ( sorry, don't know the name of the part ) but the contacts with the frame need to be clean for a good strong spark.. might want to clean the contacts out some.

    I have a 1980 110.
Check the points and clean the contacts. Mine were glazed. had spark, but was weak.
Install a NGK plug too. The Denso and champion plugs don't last too long.

i've just been out to look at the points and when i turn the engine over the points are not opening does anyone know the correct gap that they need to be, does this sound like it could be whats causing my problem?

..03 If I remember correctly. I will get my manual this afternoon and confirm that. Yes the spark and your opening lead me to believe you need to adjust and/or replace the points. Points are incredibly cheap if the adjustment doesnt work just replace them. Oh yeah adjust at F not T. Comman mistake.

Clean the contacts with a little fine emory cloth or point file, gap them and put a dab of grease on the lobe.
The coils seem rather durable. Check the primary wire coming off the coil going to the plug. I had to replace mine.

On your flywheel, You have T and an F. T for timing, F for fire. When you line up the engine you use T, adjust valves, make sure timing chian is lined up and so on. You need your points to fire and or open right at F and should be fulley open right before T. Oh all this is done TDF which equals top dead center.
