    Forked!.....

    Hey, they're seized up on my '84 200es..what's usually the culprit?...shop quoted me $110 to look..I think I'll take a look myself...complicated?..but what the #### am I looking for? new dampers are $40ea...doesn't look like this set-up uses oil does it?

    Just take them all apart and rebuild them. No more than $50 in parts if you get all the seals and bushings and everything, not too hard if you have a manual. It should definitely have oil. Most just used ATF. If yours doesn't, tyhat's cause it all leaked out. Make sure the chrome legs are straight when you take them apart. Roll them across the floor and see if they wobble.

    Well thanks but I don't see any legs in the schematic..or any oil seals for that matter either..looks like just a shock with a spring over the top of it with some guides and dust seals..oil? somebody chime in here please.
