    185s cam vs 200s or x cam?

    Is there a differnce between the 185s, 200s and 200x cams? Are they the same size? If so what is the difference and how can this affect my trike. Thanks

    The Cam will affect the performance dramatically. A good cam can make a slow engine alot faster. The best cam is an XR200 cam from the first model. You CAN'T buy these new. The one that they sell you is for the later model (obviously interchangable) but dont give the same performance as the earlier model. All the valve springs are the same as are the valves and rocker arms so there are no need to change these. It will not cause any more engine wear over the standard one because its sold in the same configuration by honda.

    yea 185,200 and 200x are all the same cam i beleive..the good one thos is the xr200..its byt far the best for these models unless u get a web racing cam

    Thanks I had an xr200 cam before but it froze on me and looked pretty worn. The bike never ran as good as when it was stock. I just want to know whats my best bet. Thanks

    The 200x and xr200 cams have a higher lift and longer duration than the 185 and reg. 200 cams, therefor letting the engine breathe much easier and quicker. When putting a used cam into your machine, use the rockers that have worn to that cam, or have the lobes and rocker mating surfaces trued and reparkerized. Failure to do this will result in rapid cam/rocker wear due to the mating surfaces not matching. The small cost is nothing compared to a destroyed topend.

    One more thing, most important. NEVER use an 83-4 XR200 cam. They will not fit. Those specific years were an RFVC head and the cams will not work in an ATC 2 valve head. Use an 82-3, 86 to the mid 90s piece.

    The later model (non rfvc) cams are different to the first ones to cater for better emmisions. These are slow and i highly recommend sourcing an early model one. Also you cant buy the right one new, they sell you the later one.

    I would not be swapping in rockers if they show signs of wear. Mix matching wont hurt them as long as they dont have wear on them and if they do, dont use them. A worn rocker will not be smooth and will have a wear line accross it.
