My guess would be that without some modding the arm probly wont bolt up, being as the 450R is heavier and a fourstroke, the swingarm is probably beefier, but also heavier.

i wouldnt do it...completely pointless...considering 250r swingarms last forever without 30 ft tabletops and constant racing...i think that it wouldnt be worth the custom shock valving, and/or custom linkage, and customizing the swingarm to do it...unless your pumping out monster HP, keep the 250r swinger...unless you have a lot of extra time and money.....

the 450r swinger is also shorter, for some good, but most want a longer one.

i have never heard of a stock swinger cracking under normal use and proper maintenance, i have also never heard of a pinch bolt area cracking, this could only happen if you crank the ^@#$ out of the bolt, and if you do jumping of course it will break eventually....

I've heard of a lot of them breaking. I say if it fit, why not? I doubt it will fit but that's why he needs to try it.

I have one on my 86 r, i had to make a longer linkage bushing for where the link mounts to the bottom of the frame because the 450r link is narrower than the 250r, also you have to do the same to the top shock mount for the same reasons. Another thing is you will have to shave 1/8-1/4 inch off of the end of the steel tube where your airbox is ducted too. You can no longer use the duct due to the resivoir on the shock. I personally like it better than the 250 shock, its a little bit stiffer. Dont forget the 04-05 swingarms are shorter than a stock 250 by an inch or so. I also used the 450r axle it is a little bit wider than the 250r Sorry the brakes arent hooked up, had to rebuild the master and havent put it back on yet. It also is from a 450r

sweet jeff, I have been thinking of doing that to my 85 but set it up for flat tracking, did you use the 450r carier and axle or is that the 250r stuff?

Yes thats a 450 carrier and axle. It didnt cost me much either, all from ebay the total price of everything was about $250. It is relatively simple
