very nice... i think theres a lot of stuff from the newer machines that could go on our trikes with minimal modification... it just takes one person to give it a shot... good job!!

Do you know the difference in weight?
Imagine, 450R rear susoension and KTM upside down fron susp. NUFF SAID!!!
I know it takes a lot more than just putting the parts, tunning and setting, but man...This is bringing the dinosaurs back to life!!!!!!!
THAT ROCKSSSSSSS.

Ive had this on for 5 months or so and prob have over 50 hrs on it and nothing has given me a problem, chain lines up perfect, everything works mint!! Ill post more pics tomm, what exactly do you want to see??
Oh and the weight is about the same i think
So the 250R and 450R sprockets take the same pattern? How about brake disc and such. Do the axles interchange? Damn I might want to get rid of my Z and go all modern suspension 250R now![]()
I used a new 250r sprocket i had kicking around, the sprocket allen bolts are bigger on the 450 i had to get them at the honda shop for $30. I think the brake disc and hub are the same as the 250r but i havent tried this yet so not 100 percent sure, i have a 450 disc and hub. I think the axles interchange too. If you use the 450 axle you have to get 450 hubs as the 250r wheel hubs arent the same size.
Would love to see the top part of the shock and the swingarm/frame mounting point.
This just keep getting better!!!!!!

Thanks for the help guys , but i traded the swinger for a gun like umm,, over a year ago lol...Jesus this thread is really 2 years old? Holycrap time flys!
the 06/07 450r have a 1" longer swinger .......so if you want a standard 250r swinger length go for the 06/07
Need Honda ATC TRX NOS restoration parts??? or come check out our ATC brochure site

Yes thats right the 06 and 07 is longer, just be sure you get the 06-07 shock linkage though
Awesome...I saw one on ebay a week or so ago and wondered if it could be done.
Will the 250R linkage and shock work or do you have to use the 450R stuff.
If I don't remember...It never happened
jeffatc250r, Great Idea, that really looks sweet. I think a 06-07 swinger would be cool cause It's the same lenght as a stock R. It really shows how well honda built there stuff way back when. They really have'nt change that much In over 20 years. I wonder If the axle carrier has the same outside diameter. I know alot of people used to put 250R brake calipars & rotors on 400ex for better groung clearance & longer lasting brake pads. If the 450 stuff Is close to the same the Interchanging will carry on even longer.

x2 guy You have to use the 450 shock and link, the 250 will not work at all. you can use the 250r brake caliper and holder

This was done on a quad not to long ago, I remembered reading about it so I went and found it on exriders. I don't know what the 450 swinger weighs but I know I saved at least 10 pounds when I did the switch on my trx from steel to aluminum.
