    Tips on wheelies:))

Hey guys are 225dx good for wheelies?? I can hit a wheelie for a second and then i am either running behind the trike or layin on my back or just go right back down what are some distances you can hit? sitting or standing better?? and from a stop, or while driving 2nd or something?? Thanks,

P.S...ITs just that i never done wheelies on anything, bikes, etc, so thats why i am so clumpsy at it now, dont laugh)))))) i will get it someday..............maybe

They are great for wheelies. On my dr I can ride a wheelie for about a block and a half in second. I've been trying to get good at shifting through the gears while riding one. I always ride sitting on it nver tried it standing or with a knee on the seat. If it starts to come over back wards on you just lightly touch the back brakes, or stomp them if your out of control this will slam the front end right down. Josh

All I can tell you is that the more torque the trike has, the easer it is to pull wheelies. HP helps too, but nothing like torque. When you have a low power engine, pulling wheelies is harder to control. Finding the sweet spot is all about torque and power.

    wheelies

this is a great topic. i gotsa question!!!!
why the he!! do i forget that the back brake even exists when i'm doin wheelies????
with regular riding i use the back brake more than the front, but when i;m wheelieing i cannot remember to touch it and bring myself back down and end up on my back everytime i go to far.
what the he!! is wrong with me????????i don't get it???

The way I learned to remember it was when I was riding my college roomates tri z. I had a sweet wheelie going in 3rd gear on a gravel road, it came over and my back was so skinned up from the rocks I've never forgot again. So my advise would be to go do the same thing and then you'll never forget either. LOL Josh

on my dx i can do wheelies in every gear whent going fast. the trick is to not let go of the rev when changing gear this will result in the trike popping up in awheelie. another way to nearly kill yourself isto hav the dx in neutrallift the gear lever up but do not let it click down. then rtev the engine then putin first while revved and this will definately make u fal.

how do u do wheeliies for a long distance. on mine it only does it for about twop meters.

Yeah thats what i figured, the more you practice the better you get at it, well i will be practicing a lot tomorow, since its a day off) the only problem is the snow( still got atleast 6inches of it so i gota stay on the road for wheelies, and thats where it hurts to fall but maybe smokinwrench was right) maybe thats the way to learn faster LOL

hey guys when you are traveling at high speed on a dx, since it doesnt have a clutch and you need to slow down to second or even first gear, how do you guys do that?? if i just start pumping that peddle i dont really like the way my whole trasnmission sounds?? or is there no other way to do this, put it back to neutral or 1st???

    Thanks

On my old sx, I would put one foot on the rear grab bar and ride it vertical throughout all the gears all day long. If you start to go over, just put your other foot down and push it back down again. I can also ride a wheelie on my Foreman through 3rd gear. I could go farther if my trails were longer. :?

I can ride my 350x quite a way in a wheelie. I shift thru the gears into about 4th. To shift gears when you are in a wheelir "feathering" the gas when you are off the gas you just click it into the next gear. I most always just sit on the seat and ride them.

    P.S. Good luck.

Yep, that's how I do it sometimes. Its more fun to do in sitting down though. Nothing like the rush of finishing a perfect wheelie :-P
