    Broken bolt

Iwas installing my exhuast on my r yesterday but i lost one of the exhuast flange bolts. so i went to walmart and bought a little box with like 4 or five of them. well i put it in and when i got the bolt about half way threw the dang thigh broke off inside i wasnt even putting that much preasure on it. could it have been a bad bolt, cold weather or a combonation of both? i was wondering what i should do now? do i have to go get it drilled out and re tapped?

I strongly suggest avoiding buying hardware items at Wally World

Maybe the threads didn't match? Did it bottom out in the head??

The best thing to IMO. Is drill out the bolt with a bit that is just smaller than the OD of the threads of the bolt that broke. You have to be very careful, then run a bottoming tap through it.

Could use one of these. They require less technical knowledge than tapping without the danger of damaging the original threads. Your local hardware or automotive store will have sets containing different sizes.
I got a set of five spiral sizes for around $15 Can.

Ewww the EZ out broke? Tuff break (no pun intenended) I've had that happen to me trailprotrailpro. Those things are pretty hard, you might be able to shatter it with a punch, or are you lucky enough that there is nothing behind the broken bolt? If so the puch should push it right out. If you can get it out I would still recomend going up in size with the drill bit untill the remaining pieces just fall out. Then run a tap down the hole.
