    how to bring finish back to plastics

    hey ive got a cr500 and some idiot painted the plastics! is there any way to get the paint off and then get the original finish back?

    you could try some low odor aircraft remover (spray can) but be very careful. this stuff will burn your hands. dont let it sit too long and do a little bit at a time. if left on for too long it will start eating plastic. just spray on a small area at a time and wipe off once you see the paint bubbling up, also great stuff for removing stickers. i used it when i repainted my gas tank.

    Personally, I would use Laquer thinner. Pretty good bet that it's just spray paint on there, which has no hardner in it, so laquer thinner will wipe it right off. Next you'll probably have to wet-sand it lightly with 1000 grit or so, then rub it out with buffing compound and polish compound.

    also acetone for gel-coat works probably would work. im not sure but when we fiberglass it can eat away gel coat not sure about paint but would probably work
