    Carb leaking through overflow

I can't get the carb to stop leaking throught the overflow. Ive cleaned the carb twice and it runs excellent. It's a KLT160 that I just bought for 75$ canadian. The petcock was no good so i put some JB weld on it to stop it from leaking and now u cant turn it to on, off, or reserve, just always on. I take it for a ride bring it home, turn it off, and gas pours from the overflow in the carb. Driving me nuts!!
    Please help

Make sure that the needle that the float pushes is moving freely, and that the floats are adjusted correctly. Sounds like the floats are sticking, allowing the gas to "flood" into the carb. The little brace on top of the float needle is how you adjust the depth of the neelel that the float bulbs push. But, oftentimes, the needle that the floats work sticks in the down position (worn needle) causing the problem you describe.

    Good luck.

check for a " Sinking " Float. might be taking on gas and sinking......

Have you had it apart at anytime ? cuz if it was ok before, and the carb was never openedup . the float should be set correctly.

The seat however.... read up a bit before you tear into it if it's a new thing for you, not complicated, but don't rush into it blind.

You sure the JB was totally dry before you hooked it up. ? it you hurried it up it might have gotten into the carb ..

ok thanks for the help. Ive had the carb apart twice to clean it. And eversince I bought it two days ago its been doing this. From what I gather have to bend the metal piece that holds the float neeldle UP so that it prevents gas flow sooner preventing gas from reaching the overflow?
I have an extra float that a friend gave me for the same bike but the neelde isnt on it. When I had the carb apart i blew in the gas line and moved the float up and it did plug but not until the float was the entire way up.

If you got a princess auto close by, check out a " Vernier Caliper " real cheap ( expensive if you go high grade.. digitall etc... ) but a cheap one will do fine for float adjustments.... it has 2 arms attached to a ruler you can adjust and measure precicely, of course you can do without it.. but if you have the chance to pick one up.. get one !

You want to bend that arm so that the float sits lower, this way it will push on the needle sooner when it starts to float. good luck eyeballing it,, find the specs and measure it carefully.

    I hope this helps.

While youre at the auto parts store pick up one of those in-line fuel switches for a couple bucks too, so you can shut your gas off.

The fuel and overflow lines maybe connected wrong... check your airbox for fuel ( saw this last week i beleive.. don't remember wich thread it was ) but in this case the motor was not running, it would piss gas thru the overflow and fill the airbox with gas.

If yours is running, the lines would have to be connected properly i would think.
