do 84 and 86 200x motors interchange?

Hey, a friend of mine has an 84 200x and needs a motor. I found one that came out of an 86 200x and 6 speed on the net, but he thinks it looks a little different. Are they the same? If not, do they mount the same way and everything hooks up the same way? If not, what has to be changed?

btw, what is a good runner with tranny selling for these days?

any help is appreciated

no the engines are not interchangable totally different.....engine mounts are in a different place etc.....find a 83-85 it will be alot easier.....

Yeah the 200x in 86 and 87 are totally different trikes from the 83-85 200x. They are just about as different as a 350x to the 83-85x lol.

if he could get the 1986 frame, would all of his 1984 parts fit onto it?

About the only thing that will interchange is the tailight. The wheels will too if you get the right hubs. That is rear only. I heard the front light will but havent tried that one.

The '83-'85 200x is a really a different model then the '86-'87 model 200x. It is easier to think of the '83-'85 as a sport version of the other Honda 200's were the '86-'87 200x is more of a smaller version of the 350x.

the 86 will not work but if you find a xr200 or a 185s motor it will work all except the back brakes you have to jerry rig the pedal

there is a 200x on ebay and 85 witha nd 86 motor.
