    hmm no spark

yep the tri z project. I figured I would try to get in running before I really worry about finishing it, so I plugged in all the wires (pretty sure correctly) and no spark. I tested the stator by sticking a test lite probe in one of the plugs coming out of the stator and it lit up really strong when I turned the motor. So the energy is not making to the plug, I guess. I tried all the black wires in all the black plugs, just to be sure and still nothing. HMM any ideas on what to check next?

Well first off i'd check the most common cause.. Ground wires, make sure theres no rust and the connection is good. Then just the typical stuff like moisture inbetween the CDI and coil connections. Make sure the plug cap isnt worn out and the connector isnt rusty, and that the other end is pressed into the coil good. There should only be a couple connections to really worry about to make it run, so mess with those a bit in different ways, Alot of the time over the years people will cob purple, blue, yellow, green, brown, black, red, wires all over the place so it is hell to try and wire it back up again. If none of that works, then I would guess its the CDI or coil.
Give me no lip and I tell you no lie.

Not to overstate the obvious but do you have it on run? Remember, it's a 2 position switch not 3 like the Hondas. Also make sure the stator wires are hooked up correctly. I worked on a Banshee once that ran but had no lights. Turns out 2 of the stator wires were reversed.

yea, its on RUN! LOL, I checked that! I would imagine that the stator is OK, I did not mess with it at all.

I would probably suspect the CDI or coil if you're getting power from the stator. Check and see if you have power going into the coil.

it must be in that new wiring you bought!!!i would check the spark plug cap sometimes the resistor in there burns out), or try a spare coil and cdi, there is two sides to the stator, lighting, and spark

I would pull the plug boot off. Cut a 1/4 inch off the end of the wire. Screw the cap on clockwise , put on a fresh zip tie. Dont ever trust the spark test. If you are sure you have no spark put a "New" plug in the cap , even if you just did..I have wasted weeks on bad plugs out of the box 2 times. Then put plug in your hand and kick it over as hard as you can. I bet you have spark "
