I Finnaly Found A Resto Project!!!!

I finally found a 250r to do a resto on. These are really hard to find in upstate NY. I'ts not like california where everyone has one in the garage. It really has been whaled on and doesn't move because of the clutch.but it is all there and deserves to be restored dont you think.Nothing bothers me more than to see one of these complete running trikes parted out on ebay just for the mighty dollar.Just my .02. what do you guys think

Hey nice resto find. They are really rare in my area of PA too. If you don't mind how much did you have to give for it, I figured I'd ask first?

I paid $700.00 for it. its pretty beat up but it is complete nothing serious wrong besides the clutch. I think I did alright for this area.

$700 seems very reasonable for a complete bike. Just the motors alone go for that on Ebay. Any idea what kind of headpipe that is looks skinny and aftermarket. Even if you would put another $500 into it, you would still only have $1200 in it and you will know what you have. You will pay atleast that anywhere else and not know what you have until you tear into it.

Looks like a good find. People are paying almost that for beat up rolling chassis. I guess all us PA/NY guys are competing with each other and all the nice R's are getting bought up. A few months ago, I bought a real nice one locally and resold it to make some $$, figuring I'd try to buy a nicer one. I kick myself in the ass now. I've been looking for one ever since and can't find a decent one within 300 miles!

I had a '85 a few years ago and like Grundlegrabber I sold it for money. Couldn't find another one up until about a 2years ago picked it up for $1500,It's in nice shape. Then I turned around and picked up another one that was a little ruff, but ran for $500. They are both '86s, and they are going nowhere. Haven't seen any liquid coolers for sale since in this area.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago. Bought one for 550.00 and put a carrier in it and sold it for 1500.00 it was a 85. there is plenty enough other things out there to make a quick dollar on.This one is staying with me for sure

I don't know about anyone else, but I have been diehard into trikes for about 15 years. And in this area I have only ever seen about eight Tri-zs and two Tecates in this area (Western PA).
