    kawasaki tecate

I was in mechanical technologly today (auto shop) and was talking to a kid that was interested in buying my chainsaw. Him and I got into a conversation about 3 wheelers and he said he has a 87 tecate in his garage at his moms house! I asked him if he rode it and he replied by saying that the motor didnt run and when he took the head off there was a bunch of metal shaving inside. He said that there was a frame at one time but it was cut into pieces. It has a good front end on it and everything else except the frame and swinger( shock). He told me he would trade it straight up for my little homelight chainsaw. My chainsaw is all torn apart it runs good but thats it no chain no bar no nothing. Should I make this trade?? Is there any rare things i need to look for??

The right shroud would be worth more than the chainsaw in good shape

    Tecate

I would give him a brand new Stihl chainsaw for that trike in any shape, but only if he asked for one !!! All kidding aside jump on the deal or should I say steal?? haha! And if you don't want it you can sell it all to me for a slight profit and I'll restore it as best as I can!! Oh ya, if you ask me the tecate is a very great trike. I own 2 of them and one was a parts bike(basket case) when I got it, but not anymore!!
It ain't about the money, or even being #1, you gotta know when it's all over you did the best you could of done! And knowing that it's in you and you never let it out, is worse then blowin' any engine or any wreck you'll ever have!

your absolutely correct BigTBones. Your tecate is going to be an 84 or 85. probably still a good deal, your just gonna have to spend alot of time getting it back together. BTW, there is an 84-5 frame on ebay right now. Its only at $15 but just recently started.

yeah dude, the 84/85 Tecate is a great bike stock and an absolute screamer with the right mods(very little needs to be done). All the plastic is still available as is tank covers for faded and ugly tanks. You can still buy pipes and reeds, pistons, suspension upgrades...basicly anything except wider axles and longer swingarms which go for a high dollar on eBay.

Do it, the 85 I got from my bro trading that saw is a sweet machine.
