Will a 200X cylinder fit on a 185 motor? Will the stroke be the same? Do you need to change the head too?
Thanks for any info.

Yes it will fit straight on! The two cylinders are identical except for the hole in the middle and the fins are slightly larger.
You dont need to change the head because they are the same.
Ok now, as for the stroke, its time for a lesson. The stroke is purely determined by the crank. The cylinder length doesnt make the piston travel any further or any less. Another thing, the rod length has no affect on the stroke length. Alot of people get this confused because they think that if you put a longer rod in the piston will come up further. Whilst this is true, the exact distance the piston will be higher up will be the exact distance the piston wont go down.
Oh yeah, the cranks and rods are the same for 185 and 200 and we are strictly only talking about 2 valve 200x motors for this entire scenario.
You can only use the '83-'85 200x cylinder. The '86 & '87 200x are alot different.Originally Posted by ROBTHEROD
