    What anti-freeze for my R

I just changed the anti-freeze in my ATC-250R as well as the TRX-250R. My buddy who owns a small shop said that I can forgo the $9.00 for 45oz bottle of pre-diluted stuff he sells for satndard anti freeze from the auto store. He just told me to make sure that its aluminum safe which I think most if all are today.
Well I remember reading after I already added it to my TRX that anti-freeze with silicates should not be used as it destroys the water pump. Is this TRUE???? The stuff I just added says in the ingrediants that it has silcone silicates. Must I remove immediately and flush, or what?

I just used a full bottle that I had at home. It says that its all metal safe. Its the green stuff in a white bottle with I think red and blue writing.(Durex maybe!!)

    Thanks,
    Dave

Well when I used to road race motorcycles, I used waterwetter. It has a red tint and worked flawlessly. That was also at 120-140mph.

I like Engine Ice myself. I use to use waterwetter but i dont think it has any protection on freezing.

Regular antifreeze Peak or prestone is what I have been using for 10 years with no problems yet.

Regular antifreeze is fine; just be sure to use DISTILLED water with it. Not tap water, not spring water, not drinking water.

My step Mom works at napa and told me that there are between 3-6 antifreeze manufacturing plants (forgot how many) in the U.S. I think prestone would do just fine. Also when antifreeze eats away at allumnium it is called elecrolosis, this is caused by the system not getting flushed every year. I was told that by my dad who also happens to be ASE certified.

I think Durex is the name of a condom, not antifreeze. I've always used the regular Prestone antifreeze mixed with distilled water.

This is the reason I ask.

Unlike silicates, HP Coolant's organic corrosion inhibitors won't gel and cause radiator plugging, they're more stable for a longer shelf life, and don't act as abrasives to mechanical water-pump seals to cause leaks.
This is from Honda's website and they claim silicates cause the water pump seals to leak.

I suppose I will just grab a gallon of the concentrate from Honda as its only around $12.00.

My original seals are 20 years old this year and I've always used "whatever's on sale", so I wouldn't worry about it.

$9.50 is cheap compared to my 250r engine. A piece of mind. Pour it in and GO!What temp does your engine run at?
    3 CR500R's and counting. Do I really need 4???
Do I really need 9 Tigers?
    Laegers ATC500R
DO NOT send any thing to whats his face (dirt-face/crasher) here on the board. What a scum bag. He screwed (stole) money from me and screwed me on my ME360 and Hondaline 300R engine rebuilds.
