To be serious, I think it's mostly due to heat. The exhaust runs right under the right side shroud and the hot/cold/hot/cold weakens the plastic making it more susceptible to breakage.

BTW, back in the day, my 86 T3 didn't see much in the way of roosts. They were all behind me, you see.
