While they are known for having starter problems (although I've never had any on my two nor do I know anyone who has), particularly with the bendix, clicking usually means a weak battery or connection somewhere. If its intermittent, I would suspect a bad connection. Clean and tighten up all of your hardwired connections from the battery through the seloniod and down to the starter. Also make sure you check the left side switch pod on the handlebars - the wiring is actually plugs into it (which is nice) but can get loose or dirty over time.

I had the same problem on my P3. I got a rebuilt starter and haven't had a problem since. I am very thankful for this because it took all day to replace it.
Howdy
my scrambler would do that occasionally and it was a loose connection on the handlebar switch,,,
