    85 R Project

I picked up a roller here locally a couple weeks ago, Well, I decided to hold off on the Tri Z since it was running good and fart around with the R, I tore it down and sent parts off to the powdercoaters, and last weekend picked up my motor. Well my parts are back, so here's a couple pics of my progress. I sure like the color of red.

Thanks for the info, that seems to be the going rate for most of the powdercoating shops, Im thinking after this season is over the Tecate is going to get an extreme makeover. So I am reading up now so I know what to expect!!! I also cant belive that that chrome looking stuff is actually powder coated on, thats awesome.

wow, the local guy that builds choppers by me quoted me 100$ for powder coating the frame and swinger for my 85 R....30$/hr for stripping it....i think i might go with the powder chrome for my swinger and stuff, depends on what he has for colors and stuff....by the way, where did you get the prolink stickers on the swinger?

We used that style powdercoat on some Mustang brackets. It looks real good, but don't clean it with any heavy cleaners. It will dull out big time. Looks like gray when your done.

I have never had that problem. As long as they put clear on it to you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Yeah, suprised me how shiney it looked when I picked it up. The prolink decals are for a CR, Seirra Designs made them up, great quality decal.

Truely AWESOME job. I always wish I could find a roller and fix it up. How did you find a motor for it?

I had a want ad placed over on a local board and a guy with a trx motor responded, picked it up for 6 bills, not to bad, motor was still in the quad running great. I also picked up a custom pipe from him and a home made silencer, we have noise requirements here in Oreogn we have to meet.

Well, I got it rolling this week, I think its coming out pretty good. I cut the chain for it last night and installed a new exhaust flange, and mounted up the pipe. I lost my four tapered bolts for the rear sprocket though, if anyone has them pm me. I should of just ordered a 86 R sprocket.
