when i am in second gear, and i punch it off a jump, sometimes it will hesitate, like there is no throttle on. is this normal for a 225dr? it will only hesitate for a split second. maybe it is because i am giving it too much gas when it can't use it up?

Teaching quads a lesson
it is a fuel/spark/compression problem. i would do a compression test to see how it is. it can still feel strong and be getting low. after that i would work on tuning the carb from idle to 1/2 throttle position. there are several writups on the net about doing this. you will have a very hard time tuning/jetting a carb on a tired weak engine.

im gonna do a compression test and what not right now it is runnin fine so i may leave it where it is at
i can live with the little hesitation its not that bad
i can keep up with others when taking of on the line

It also might be the timing. My fourwheeler was doing that and I reset the valves and it worked fine.
