I bought a Cannondale master cylinder off Ebay and have a question about the brake fluid. I am running 200x front caliper and hose and a new master. What brake fluid fluid do I run. The master says Dot 4 but the old system is Dot 3.

There was a post about this before. You can run whichever you want, dot4 is a little better because it will take a bit more heat. Make sure you flush the system through with clean fluid though. let me knwohow that master works. I bought 2 of them but haven't had the chance to put them on my projects yet.

NOT TRUE.....the dot 3 and dot4 brake fluid can take the exact ame heat....the only difference is that dot 4 will absorb less moisture from the air, dot 3 will absorb quite a bit of moisture if it is in contact with air....dont leave the cap off of yur brake fluid container! they can also be mixed with dot 5.1.... but never ever ever ever mix with 5 or even use dot 5, for one it costs like 20$ a bottle compared to 3$ a bottle for regular stuff, and it wont work/mix with other types...

I bought a new one off egay (cannondale) I haven't tried it out yet...but it was a sweet deal @ $38 shipped. It says DOT4 on the cover...thats what I was planning to use.
