I took my motor into the Honda dealership over the winter to have the crank redone. Today i put the engine back in the frame and fired it up. It runs strong but it wont shift. Can anyone give me any suggestions on what is wrong.
Thanks
Alex

theres alot of things. but before you pull the engine apart again, how long wasn't there oil in it. the clutches might be stuck. get it running and hold the clutch lever in and rev the motor for a little bit. then try to shift. that would help spread the clutches apart. if that don't work they might have put something in the engine wrong.
1 of the shift ratchets was broke. Im not pleased about getting a $120 repair bill from island honda..but what can i say.
alex
i would have told them to eat the bill and give me my motor back NOW! its thier fault they put it back together wrong, and if it was broke to begin with they wuld have told you when they split the cases before!
they told me when i brought the bike in that it was in neutral....funny to me tho cuz i just brought the engine in. they cut the bill in half so im gonna see if i pay for the parts if the labour will be free. it only seems fair.
alex
they should have seen that when they rebuilt the motor. tell them you will pay for the part but not the labor. i would stay away from them after this and find somebody else to do the work.
CR80's don't have automatic transmissions. You have to shift them manually.Originally Posted by timex69
