I need help on a 250R as fast as possible:((

Ok, i made a deal with a relative, his 250r 82' died on him one day last time he was riding, about 2-3 months ago, he said he wasnt hard riding just cruising around trails. Then it just died and he cant get it started, its in my garage right now, i bought it from him with a deal, that i have 3 days to start it, if i do i keep it and if i dont , he will refund my money. I changed the spark, its gives a good spark, after trying to start it for a bit the spark gets wet, and all it does is kind of puffs chunks of air out of the exhaust once in a while, i towed it after trying to kick start it for so long that my foot still hurts but no results? is the engine DEAD on this thing????

i was thinking you possibly could have hunga valve or broke a rocker arm but its hard to tell until you pull the top end off

yaeh you might have screwed up the valve train :?:

There are no valve's or rockers

If its got good spark, and the plug is wet, sounds like compression. Do you have the right size plug in it?

well if you got good fuel, spark.. then you need the compression to ignite.. so do a pressure test and get back... sounds like yr problem.
Ride it like you stole it! And never look back! They are too far behind to see!

Could be that the motor is getting no air into the motor because the air filter is plugged???? I would take a look at that, and try some starting fluid, but it does sound like a compression problem. If It got a little hot or over heated and that is the original bore and piston and so fourth and has a lot of hours on it, that could very well have just lost all compression.

    do this.

This is a good test to see if something is wrong on the inside. If you have compression, use a tester to see how good it is, but there is a simple thing you can do to see what's going on inside the motor. I'm not sure about the layout on the 82R's, but on the 83-86, you can take the pipe off and shine a flashlight inside the exhaust port to see what the cylinder looks like. If you had a ring go, or if the exhaust side of the piston went, you can see it right away. Sometimes you think you have good enough compression, but you don't.

spray contact cleaner or wd40 thru all the jets and ports in the carb.
Make sure all the magnets are still in one piece on the flywheel (usually a problem on kawasaki's)

Clean it anyway, it's really simple and could easily be the source your problems. Also check the ignition timing and drain all the gas out and put some fresh in.
