Question about speedo gearbox/front axle on Honda atc's??

Ok guys, I was just wondering how tight you are supposed to tighten the front axle when you have the speedo gearbox on there...I tightened the front axle on my 250es as tight as I used to before I installed the speedo and the front wheel doesn't spin as freely when it is off the ground and spun by hand. Now when I loosened the front axle a little bit, the wheel will spin for longer and even rock back in the other direction a little after it stops spinning....but I drove it around like that and I could feel the axle shift a little bit and could tell that something wasn't right. I guess what I'm asking is-is it better to just run with the axle tightened up or looser to allow more spinning capacity of the front wheel?? what do yall know?

Did you have the dust seal behind the gear unit? I just tighten the axle like I normally do. It doesn't really tell you anything special either way in the instructions.

Hey, I took the dust seal out like the instructions said to..the 250es kit doesn't come with a thinner replacement dust seal like some of the other ones do. All it says is to discard the axle collar and then install the unit.

i would think that it would probably have a little more drag and not spin as freely.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too...I think it's better to have the axle all the way tight vs a little loose you know..
