    Different jetting/plug question

When doing a plug chop You look at the electrode right (the piece in the middle..) and you look at the piece on top of the electrode (sorry guys not good with the parts on a plug ) ..ok well my question is i had a 108 jet .. and well that electrode was white .. So I was like ah lean .. got a 115 jet .. yeah its big .. and well now on topend it bog gs or like cuts out like it is getting too much gas... but that electrode is still white.. .. but towards the outside of the plug its black ..
    I am confused..

Hope everyone understood what I wrote.

You need to make sure its up to operating temperature before you even try to do a plug check. I believe you can get Kehins on every size now so I'd have gone with a 110 main first. Let me ask you this - what was wrong with your X to make you think you needed to even mess with the jetting in the first place?. On my last X, when I mounted up a DG RCM, I believe I only had to go up to a 110 main summer/112 winter (but don't quote me on that). The white part is the insulator and tip - thats where you look for your colors (should be brown idealy), the first few threads should be blackish.

yeah I was told it had a 110 jet in it when I bought it .. so I wanted a 114 ... I went to the dealer and they said either a 112 or a 115 .. no 114 .. so I just went with the 115 .. took the carb apart and it had a 108 in it
anyways yeah so tell me why the insulator is white and the tip is like a steel color .. thats with a 115 jet .. it looked the same with the 108 .. but now the threads have black on them before they didnt..

83185s I already changed the needle setting. Didnt help..

With a higher compression should I be running more gas or less?

You should be looking at the ceramic insulator that goes around the center electrode. Start it, and ride it around for like 15 minutes to make sure its at full operating temperature, then put in your clean plug and do a plug check.

Kehin jets have a sequence where the last number goes 0, 2, 5, 8. So if you had a 110 main jet, the next size bigger is a 112, then a 115. The next size smaller from a 110 is a 108.

Keihins used to be that way .... I'm 99% sure they are now available on every mark now, at least aftermarket Keihin jets are. Micky's are still every 5 and 10. I have a question for Short4stuff though - what altitude are you at?.

hmm I dont really know .. If I look outside well I can see water .. if we get 2-3 meter storm surges the water comes pretty close to the house .. .lol so does that mean I am like 20-30 feet above water?
