I have not done it before, however I know it is almost a direct bolt in. I think the only thing you have to do is notch the frame in one place to route the oil line correctly. I have the edition of ATV sport where they did this conversion. It is to the best of my knowledge one of the easiest conversions to perform.

there is a mount on the rear of the motor that needs to be cut. you can get a exhaust from powroll. my friend did this swap. powroll has a kit but my friend did not use it. he just got the exhaust from them. http://www.powroll.com/honda_atc_350x.htm

Freaksfix does not have a 250x with a 350 motor, he has a 350X converted to a 4 wheeler. I have herd of similar sawp, and the 350 motor into a 250r chassis of any sort i hear is easy as pie too.

I see your project has changed from a twin cylinder atc, to a four cylinder atc!! Are you trying to go one up on me!! J/K Are you going to use a crotchrocket motor of some kind, or are you thinkin more along the lines of a kz550, or honda cb motor?? Just curious

The 350x motor to 250X/300EX frame is the easiest swap. The motors are very similar. There is more work involved when you try it with an R frame.

If you do the swap into a 250x chassis, you might want to consider a longer s-arm because it will constantly want to wheelie (I learned the hard way). My brothers friend has one and it is awesome :-P

the 350x shock and swingarm bolts on to the 250x. the shock is better , i don't know if the 350x swingarm is longer or not or if the axle is wider.

    conversion

here is mine. It is a 1998 300EX with a 86 350X engine. I swapped the engines in less than 7hrs. If I would have had an exhaust, it would have been ridden at the end of the 7hrs. i couln't see buying a $460 exhaust at the time. I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep the engine in there or not. I ( with the help of a friend with a exhaust shop, made a exhaust for it in about 3hrs, that following saturday. All the was needed to do the swap, is Exhaust, file down the Oil supply banjo bolt ( goes to the head ) 1/8-1/4 inch for clearance, and cut off a 1 1/4 from the upper rear engine mount boss and make 2 spacers 9 one for front bottom, and one for top rear) The engines are VERY similar, in fact, the side cases will bolt on each other. I also used the NEW clutch from the 300ex engine, and put it in the 350x. Here are some pics of this machine.
