    Removing shifter shaft

    Ok now im going to replace the shifter shaft. The old one broke after I drilled it. I know where to get a used one but I dont know how to get the old one out. Any help please.

    oh yeah sorry its a 1984 200s. I just found a used shaft and im going to get it so if I learn how they go in i'll try it tonight.

    a repair manual is your best and safest bet...its worth taking the extra week until it comes in

    I know, I learned but isnt it fairly simple meaning it shouldnt require manual. Could someone give me a brief explanation of how its done.

    I dont know the 200s but on most models you just remove the clutch cover and pull it out. Sometimes the clutch basket is in the way and has to be removed first. It should be obvious when you remove the clutch cover and look at it.

    Tonight I went and picked up the used shaft from a 200Big red motor. It seemed difficult when we took it out so I'm not going to tackle it. I'm going to take it too my mechanic.
