    front end width differences in 2nd gen and 3rd gen R's

    hey guys, whats the difference in the width of the forks on an 83-84R and a 85-86 R? if any......thanks
    1985 Honda ATC250R drag trike with s/t kit and full drag CR hybrid motor and drag chassis...
    1986 Honda ATC250R daily rider fully modded engine, +4 swinger,etc...
    1997 Polaris Storm 800 triple, boyesen reeds, dg individual silencers, 240 studs, 123mph on radar...

    Hmmmm.... I don't think the WIDTH is different, just the diameter of the forks themselves. I don't have a 85/86R or a tripple from them, but if I was on Jeopardy I'd say "What is 'the same' Alex??"

    '70 US90 'Ol'Girl" - Aquarius Blue... all original seat and tires. Resto project in the future
    '85 ATC250ES-'Workin' Girl' CMP Footguard, Hondaline Mudflaps, Speedo, HL Lens, Block Heater, Work Light, Foot Peg Covers and Cooler Rack
    '85 ATC70 - All Original

    '84 Yamaha 225DX - Durablue +3" axle, DR motor, New Plastics, Foot, Hand and HL Guards.
    '85 Yamahauler - Gun Rack & 'Nerf Bars'
    '85 Yamahauler - Nearly together and restored
    '83 Suzuki ALT125 - Pieces
    '89 Suzuki LT-4WD - Token Golf Cart

    well, obviously the 350x forks are the same width as the 85/86 R, so if you have a triple or something form an 83/84 R, see if they are the same size...i know you have a 350X!

    That I can do... I got a set of 83/84R triples... heading off to the farm ASAP... will report back when I get back.

    Yeah, they fit. 83/84 R are the same width as the 350x.

    350x forks ARE NOT the same diameter as 85/86 R forks.
    Give me no lip and I tell you no lie.

    Nope... looks like a plate for a 81/82R. Why.... you got one? Or you trading a Tri-Z one to LonesomeZ? Wasn't it you that thought some buddy of yours had a whole herd of them in his attic?

    i was gonna trade lonesome for it, but i guess im not gonna casue it wouldnt fit right(sorry lonesome), and yeah it was me that had a line on a guy with some, i got the 2 green ones ( one left) from him, i still have one green answer, one tri-z new maier, and one black answer left....its insane how much the Z guys want those maier plates! one guy sent me a message on ebay and he offered me 125$ for it....i wonder how muc triztunes bid for his max bid.....WOW! i expected maybe 50$ or so, not 125!

    8-84 have ball bearings in the tripple tree and 85-86 have taperd bearings.and the diamiter is different also

    Little bit late to the party guys but does anybody know if you can put 85-86 forks and triples on the 83-84 250r. If so what all needs to change for that to happen ? Thanks
