Tri-Z Clutch

I just got some Tri-Z's. The clutch was working alright, It kind of dragged when I put it in gear, but for the most part it was ok. then I was driving and when i put it down to first, it stalled and now the clutch wont disengage.
I tried ajusting it on the handlebars but nothing worked.
Could the clutch be worn out? The guy said it was fairly new.
what could have caused this?

i would take the clutch cover off (5minute job) an ear from the clutch basket may has broken off and jamed the transmission, or maybe lack of oil ,or the wrong level may have welded the fibers to the clutch plates it .holds 1 quart of 10w-30

If i drain my oil from the Z it will take a little more than 1 quart for it to start coming out of the oil check screw.

Check where the cable mounts to the engine case it may have jumped out of the bracket its suppose to sit in.

Its on the case. even when when I disconnect the cable and push it by hand all the way it wont disengage, I also noticed I can pull the lever up and down.

I'll check and change the oil too, havent done that yet.

Youy can try to remount it off that enginr bracket, pull it out and move it forward and try to push the metal part off that cable into the bracket, its the hexagon part of the cable its tricky to get in then see what happens. The only thing that might be wrong is that thing sat for a few years so the fiber plates may have dried off somwhat and burned out , check that oil if it smells burnt that might be the prob, you do have that other set of clutchplates they are in good shape yet. If you have to replace them soak them in oil (10w30) first for a littelwhile and them stick them in READ that manual about it, you got any questions phone me!

If I take that clutch cover off, do I have to replace the gasket? or would it be ok using the same one?

Depends, you can use your own jugment pretty much, there was a newer gasket in that box with the other parts you can use that. Wish I had it in front of me I know it would take me 15min to check it out and get it back together, its a pretty simple deal to check and replace if needed.

I took the clutch apart tonight and I dont see anythign wrong with it, I played around with some stuff and now the stuff inside of the thing shown in the picture moves out, I dont know if it did it before for sure.
I think it'll work now, I just have to put it back together tomorrow.

Pull all the "stuff" out. there should be a big ball in there.. Make sure it is not welded to the long shaft. If it is you may have to buy some parts. If your clutch is adjusted inproperly it can cause too much wear in there...

I know the ball isnt welded to the shaft, but the if you pull the clutch lever up it will come right out of the crankcase, is it supposed to do that or is there something that is supposed to be holding it in?
