JUST BOUGHT A YAMAHA 225 DX "CHEAP"

Well I figured I couldnt pass this one up. Ive been wanting to own one of these for quite a while. I picked it up off of E-Bay for $255.00. He says it Lost Spark. Its a good looking machine and the price was right. Thats two Yamahas Ive bought off of E-Bay in the last month. Does owning Three Trikes make me a Trike Fiend?

Looks like a sweet deal to me as long as there is nothing major wrong with it. I've paid more for less. 3 trikes means your hobby is starting to become an obsession, lol.

Hmmm... what does 6 trikes make? And almost enough parts to build 2 more?

Anyhow, I got a whole box of wiring harnecess, coils, CDI's, etc for the Yamaha trikes. Drive West.. then south a bit!

6 trikes is definitely an obsession, what is 11 trikes & 2 parts wagons? I am out of room & really considering kicking the old lady's jeep out of the garage. There would be hell to pay, but she might get used to it.

    Here we go

Well I called the Guy and asked him about it and a Pick up time. He told me the Key Switch was HotWired and he had his kids Touch 2 Wires to Start it. He said it Lost Spark. He he.
Sounds like he Fried the CDI Box and Screwed Up the Wiring Harness. What do you all think, is there any other Item I should Look at or just figure to Check Everything Electrical.
Other than that he said it looks good and ran real good. The rear End is a little loose. Im going to pick it up Late next week.
Who's looking to sell some nice Electrical Goodies for this Beast?

I saw that one on there and was thinking of bidding myself but I got to finish this 225 I am working on right now. If the motor doesn't take much to get it going and rest of machine only needs minor fiddeling, I'd say you got a great deal! Even if it does need a few major things still a great deal!

Looks to need at least a seat cover if not a whole seat?

Anyone notice what's not right on the front end? I did immeadiatly and had to laugh. Why people do that I'll never understand.

It doesn't take an eagle eye to spot it either.

Yep... forks are turned around backwards..... Brake should be on the Left.... trailing axle.

Spent the entire day wrenching and riding with "theolderfox". Certainly hope you have better "luck" with your Yamaha project trikes than I do. Ended up tearing the Yamahauler I bought from Holic down 3 times today.... I'll post pics and such when I revive my "Project Yamahaulers" thread......

PM sent about parts..... come and see what you need. "theolderfox" was very good at tracking down electrical problems on mine. I'm assuming you probably just need a new ignition switch, which I don't have extras that have keys. However, seems like Yamaha sold the key (switch has numbers to copy) for like $20 and the entire switch with keys for $60. If the ignition switch is "off" it won't have spark. I don't think it would fry anything else.... it'd blow a fuse before that.

Nice score. I like the 225's. Ya, even thought electrical problems are no fun, I seem to get to find them. Having worked on more than my share of Yamahas now, I know them pretty well. If you are having issues with getting it right, let me know. Maybe I can walk you through some of it, or worse case, depending on where you are, I will be in CNY at the end of the month. Drop me a PM of you need.
Anyone know of a new project machine for me around Wisconsin?
