I just pulled my drain plug, is there supposed to be a sealing washer or screen or anything else that comes out?
All i got is a bare plug and oil. Is this correct? This is only my second time changing it.
thanks for help in advance.

Oil drain plug washers are usually made of a soft metal such as aluminum or copper. IMO, the manufacturer included it for more than just good looks, so yes, you should use one.

got sand?
I made a washer out of a little grommet that goes on a tarp. I just grinded the shoulder off and drilled it bigger. It is made of some soft aluminum or bronze and I think it will work fine.
