1985 250 Big Red wont start after the motor is hot

I have a 1985 Honda 250 Big Red, that when i first start it, or when the motor is cool, it will start just fine, but after the motor is warm from riding it around, it wont start. I cant figure it out, and it is driving me crazy, because if i want to stop and do something quick, i cant shut it off, or else it wont start. The neutral light will come on when you start it when cold, but after the motor warms up, it goes out, and wont come back on, until it sits for a while not running and cools off. I've tested wires an everything, and cant figure anything out. So why is it doing this to me. I need to figure it out, so when i check cows this summer, adn have to ride it to a different farm, i know its going to start, and run all of the time.

I'm not sure about the neutral light but a 'break" in the stator wiring may do this. The connection is good when cool but when heats up it's enough to "break' the loose connection, then cools down and is fine again. Neutral light may be related to this too?

I just went through this with the big red I just got. The neutral switch on the motor is connected to the cdi. If the neutral switch is not providing a ground, then the motor will not start. I do not understand how it works that way, but I know it does. Your problem is in your neutral switch. It is on the right side of the motor down low. Once you get the neutral light to come on when it is hot you will be able to start it.
