    truck guys read:

so yea. 1972 International Travelette, the 4-door brother of my truck Tank.

whats so special? it's got a 392 sitting under the hood, and NO it's not that thing called a 'Hemi' that Chrysler made in the late 50's/early 60's, it's made exclusively by IH. sure it's not a hot rod or a 4-wheeler (its only 2wd but it's posi) but it'll tow anything you want, given you don't care about gas mileage.

Has over $1200 invested in ignition, mainly distrib/coil/MSD, spent $300 on a new carb, rebuilt the old carb, blah blah... and forgot all about the cap/rotor. Replaced them today with new units (for roughly $35), threw the 300amp starter on it because the battery blows, and viola, she starts up faster than a lightbulb! of course i forgot i had the fuel line disconnected from the carb, blah blah, got it all ready to go, and i think i spent more time listening to the sweet sound of it than i did letting it warm up. I just can't get enough of those internationals, flat torque curve out to 3200rpm or so, never goes below 80% max torque until after that. Power is more on a 1:1 slope

^^^engine shot (check out the exhaust port/bolt pattern... how odd)

^^^^^ numbers are off for that graph, but the curve is almost spot on. hope you have a good clutch...

anyone wanna make something out of this motor?

Sweet trucks you got there! I love old international trucks and scouts. I don't own one but I really wish I did. Nice work with the "Tank"! I don't think I've ever heard of IH 392 before.

i'll see if i can get a soundclip tonight after i lean it out, it's got duals like mine only it has coke-can style mufflers (long and thin non-glasspacked) and is too quiet for me, personally, but for overall road driving i think it would be fine, then you can say you've "heard" of the ih 392!

I got a 1975 Travelall. Me and my dad are restoring/modding it currently. Its got the 392 V8 in it also. This thing has a very unique history, including a trip from CA to VA Beach pulling a 12,000 lb enclosed trailer with everything we owned in it (not bad for a 1/2 ton huh?) Some pics of what we've done so far:
