    70 trans trouble [1st post]

First, thanks to everyone on this forum for all the great info. Ive finally got a question I can't answer with the search feature. I recently picked up a 78 honda 70 that pops in and out of 1st gear{about every second or two]. The clutch seems ok, I can run along fine in 2nd & 3rd. Could it be something with the external shift mech. or does it sound like it's split the cases time? Thanks ahead of time.

Try adjusting the clutch. It sounds like it doesnt fully enter first gear. If that doesnt work then i would say that there is something worn in the engine.

The shifting forks get worn, and this is a common problem with these.
