Big hole. JB weld. case cover.

My friend managed to carve a nice hole in his right side case cover about 1 cm x 1 cm....

Question: if one was to put a piece of say electrical tape on the inside of the case, as a lining.. and then mix up a batch of JB weld to fill the outside flush with the case....... given that there is no oil in there.. just a dry clutch ( yamaha DT 125 motor ) what are the chances of this holding up ?

Is this a waste of time and JB... or worth a try ?

Having it welded would be an option, but not very easy or cheap to do.

    opinions apreciated !

    thanks.

Get a washer that is just fits inside of the hole that was made. Let the JB weld sit until it starts to firm up a little and put it over washer and case side. Let it set for a 1/2 hour and come out and push it down with your finger to make it more flush with case. Repeat on other side if necessary for strength. I'm currently using this fix for 2 years on my 98 rm250 clutch side case.

I used JB weld to patch several cracks in my SX crank case. I would recomend though you get a thick metal cut it so it is a little bigger than the hole and jb weld the crap out of it. That sould work.
