    What's the difference tween 85 & 86 250R axles?

    I have an aftermarket axle for a 250R in my garage. Just not sure which year it is for.

    BTW, it's 37 5/8" wide. How wide is a stock axle??

    85 alxe,, the sprocket bolts on the outside of the hub,,,on the 86 and later the sprocket bolts on the inside of the hub,,,the axle i measured is stock and 35 and 3/4 inches wide,,,,,,,

    ive been told that all 85-89 250R axles are exactly the same, as far as fitting.....the only difference is some hardware that goes on the axle....
    1985 Honda ATC250R drag trike with s/t kit and full drag CR hybrid motor and drag chassis...
    1986 Honda ATC250R daily rider fully modded engine, +4 swinger,etc...
    1997 Polaris Storm 800 triple, boyesen reeds, dg individual silencers, 240 studs, 123mph on radar...

    So if the sprocket hub is not on the axle, you cannot tell the difference between an 85 or 86?

    Also the 86 was hollow and the 85's were solid..they didn't bend as easy...not sure about the splines if they inter change with one another...GOOD LUCK !!

    trx, how much for the axle & can I see pics?
    86 ATC 250R- Black plastics, black Acerbis headlight, Pro-taper bars (CR bend), 18" Holeshots, K&N filter,Turbine Core silencer.
    85 ATC 250R- Bills pipe and silencer, 3.5 gallon desert tank, West Coast +4 swingarm, Keihn Airstryker 38mm carb, port and polished, and YZ blue and white plastics.

    I was gonna have it chromed then put it on eBay. I'd like to get $125 for it. My buddy does chroming so I get that for nothing.
