So i have decided to do a complete overhaul. It should be fairly sweet once im done. Here is a list of things i have in the works or currently have for my Z. I am planning on getting it done about the middle of may.
Im going to be completely rebuilding the engine. all new bearings and seals and gaskets, top and bottom end. I have the YZ powervavle cylinder and all the doo-dads to make that work. i have cleaned up all the ports and made sure everything was knife edged so flow through the transfers is smoot and fast. The exhaust port has a mirror shine to it and I have had the head cut and resquished. the YZ motor came with aftermarket reeds and a 38mm mikuni roundside. the mikuni will be replaced with a 38mm lectron and im not planning on running the stock airbox. I am running the YZ timing and Flywheel which is about 1/3 the weight of the tri z flywheel. i think the yz had a bit more agresive timing, plus the stator plate is adjustable for timing.
To get the power to the ground i have a works racing rear shock and i extended my swingarm 2.5 inches. I currently have 22'' bandits and am looking for some 18 or 20'' turf tamers and some rims. Anyone know of anyne selling some???? I already have a 23'' front tire for it, picked it up for 5 bucks.. although its the at489... a mud tire. I am also getting some rear wheel spacers to space out the axle a few inches. i am rebuilding the forks while im at it. To go with the extended swingarm i plan on CNC ing a lowering link and replacing the brake cable with a stainless line for added looks. i have a wilwood dual opposed piston caliper that i may try to retro fit it if i can space it out correctly.
For the exhaust, i am still up in the air as to what i want to do. I currently have a coffman's silencer and a dg silencer, i also have a dg front pipe and may have a works pipe on its way. I am not sure if a works topend pipe would work well or i should go with an actual yz pipe... something to ponder.
To top it all off i plan on powdercoating the whole deal. my plastics are pretty good and have a black number plate to take the place of the lights. new front master cylinder and handlebars as well, I am still debating on running a tri-zinger gas tank to take the place of the rear tank, i live on the east and dont ride too far away from any fuel source... mainly my house, im still debating it though. i plan on running just the push button kill switch as well.
Needless to say i am really really really excited to get this thing up and running and tearing around.
Can anyone suggest any other things i should think of doing while im this far broken down?
any input would be great!!
