250sx, buy to restore???

alright i posted awhile back about a 1985 250sx that a friend has, it runs good but is really rough looking.. we got the forks together and it seems fine. it will need all new plastic, new grab bar, new exhaust, the tires are good (wooly boogers), no headlight, gas tank replaced... what would you give, he wants $300.. i was gonna trade my snowmobile (1989 jag 340) for it.. the snowmobile is definatley worth more. probably might also be smart for me to put a kill switch in it (it lacks one) any idea how to hook one up??

If it runs, I think it's worth it.
My dads got a 250sx headlight and front fender he wants to get rid of, PM me if you want it. Both are in good condition, also he has a kill switch that has the choke thing broke.

ill take it i just need to sell some stuff to get it, seeing as how you have the parts i will need, and i dont have to look around its starting to sound worth it.. how much do you want for all of it?

You wont be sorry for buying it, awesome woods bike, It is a good for everything type bike, as far as getting plastic and what not, if it is just cosmetic stuff it needs I think you would be a fool to let an offer like that pass by, Git-r-done.

well its cosmetic, but it has had a hole in the base of the exhaust, the shift lever is welded on, and it sucks that the trailer thingy was cut off

if the tranny and engine are solid...... that alone is worth 300.

Don't let that pass.

welded shift lever .. no biggie.. if you ever have to get in there.. replace needed parts. but if it's a runner the way it is without serious probs.....

well everyone seems to find it high but i have 500 into this gun, 240 brand new+installed response trigger 100 dollars, 160 dollar flatline barrel, 2 co2's extra paintball carriers... i was hopin for 400 but will take a reasonable offer.. its a very clean gun, disassembled and cleaned thoroughly after every use..

i'd pass on a 250sx and DEFINITELY spend a few more bux on a MUCH nicer 200x a welded on shifter is a nightmare. i swapped complete bottom ends because of that scenario on my 200x. changing that part and splitting the cases is VERY involved and not a piece of cake. 200x gets my vote

if i could get 800 id have your trike in a heartbeat, very nice machine. its just choosing a trike over my very nice 30-30 that ill probably never find again if i take it to the gun shop, and finding someone to buy my snowmobile (hard to do this time of the year)
