Did you just buy one? If so, what year? How much? Clue us in buddy. Got pictures?

I have one at the moment and I am restoring not to original but a bit customizing (sort of) and find parts wise they aren't too bad for obtaining through ebay. At one time or another I think I've seen every part for the trike. Not real expensive either.

Certain members on here are in the process of helping me out also and I say thanks!

I have never even rode one so can't give no info on that.

If checking one out, a weak area seems to be the forks are bent on a lot of them simply because they hit something or pushed it over it's limits for what it's designed to do.

Quite an easy wheeler to work on too.

Not sure if you saw mine on here or not?

Shaft drive is nice being no sprockets or chain to worry about and sure the rear stays cleaner because of it.

Pull start assembly tends to need work on some but almost every make desires that attention at one time or another by now.

Another nice thing it has going for it is the palstic tank........no rust or dents ever.

Overall it's a nice trike and I haven't found much to complain about working on it.

Don't know how many do this (seems a rareity) but my two front mounting nuts on each side in frame for the footpeg mount bolts spin freely and must be repaired. That could very well be it was ridden with them loose and eventually it broke the nut welds off but it can be repaired.

You going to moto it or push it really hard step up to a heavier duty trike as it really isn't a sport trike.

Wheelie machine, will go for forever on 2 wheels. The little carb is very "figity", once you have it set right, dont touch it again -LOL. The heads are real weak, check clearances regularly. These machines have a reputation for throwing valves. Keep the driveshaft + rest of the drivetrain sealed off real well, It only takes tiny bit of crap to tear alot of stuff apart. Keep your axle nuts TIGHT, them 3 bolt yamie hubs are easy to strip.

And, finally, as with every yamaha... Prepare for lots of work + money spending when it breaks.
Give me no lip and I tell you no lie.

I had a 225 DR it was a great machine. I ran it for about 1 year. I had to replace all the bearing for the rear axle, I knew they were bad when I got it. It cost aobut $250 for the axle bearings and seals. Only break down I had was the coil went out.

Great wheelie machine, good power, decent suspension for a shaft drive 80's model. I would buy another if I ever find a good deal.

You do mean taking the whole trike to the dealer & having them do it, right?

New to the board I see. Welcome. One tip I can give you is...Don't get edog and huffa started on God's greatest invention...the Yamaha 225 dx.

They are nice wheelers though. I had one many, many years ago and never had a problem.

You paid 250.00 for bearings and seals? You got ripped big time!

Maybe there is a misunderstanding on what you bought but here are the prices from bike bandit and generally they are high.
