    Question 250ES, 200X, or 250SX?

I'm in the market for a trike and I need everyones input as to which of these 3 models are best for my purposes. I plan to ride trails somewhat slow and easy with my wife. I'm not into speed or racing at all. I'm about 190 pounds, 5'10".

Can anyone justify their reasoning as to which one I should look for? There is a 250SX that is in great shape for $1500 locally, the Big Reds usually appear every other week for about $700-1500. The 200X trikes are rare in my local papers and the ones that do appear are in terrible shape.

    Thoughts?

My vote is for the 250sx, If your are going to ride around with your wife on these type of trials you cant go wrong with the SX. You also have reverse and electric start.. It also has a sort of bigred gene in it too, you can pull stuff, and work the livin piss out of it and it will still kepp truckin. It is also more sporty than the bigred, it dosent weigh as much etc etc. The 200X is more sporty than the SX but you will forfiet reverse and electric start if you do go with the 200X.

i say 250sx too. or the big red. i dont think you would like the 200x because it has manual clutch and no reverse.

You would like the 200x, because you would enjoy the smoother ride and better power; but I too think you will like an SX more then a 200X for your type of riding.
Put on a rear rack, and you can carry lots of cargo. And if you put on a 200x front end, it will give an even nicer ride.

Personally I prefer the 250sx. Great all around bike and kind of sportier than the big red. My 200x doesn't run yet so i cannot comment on that. But the x doesn't have reverse or shaft drive like the others.

    No contest.

    SX.

    Auto-clutch
    ELECTRIC START !!! ( you'll get used to this quickly !! )

Bigger than the X i beleive.. at your weight...... you'd seem small on an X.

    no chains to mess with.

only drawback.. is front and back DRUM brakes.. they suck arse.

I think the SX is one of the best all around trikes out there today. For moderate trail riding, enjoying Gods great creations, or just playing in the mud, the SX is great. The only thing I would put on a SX to make it pretty close to perfect is some removable racks. I do love my racks on the Big red esp if you do some camping or decide to have a neat lunch in the woods.

SX all the way! It hauls my fat arse around (Im a 240lb 5'10" guy) and I do trail riding, water boggin, mud boggin, hill climbing and anything else. I also like to use it in short drags against utility quads because it will usually win.

i love my sx too. they go anywhere and are super easy to ride. go slow or go fast. great with the wheelie too. 1500 is too much though. a nice 85 should be between 700-1000 max. if it is mint and i mean mint mabye 1300. a good runner is 700-900 bucks.

Thumbs up Two thumbs up for the 250SX.....

I love mine to death and my wife can ride it with no surprises.
VERY easy to own and operate.

It has enough "sport" to it to make it enjoyable.
It's a mountain goat in the woods.
    Auto. Clutch.
    Reverse.
Electric start with kick back up.
    CUSHY ride.

    $1500 is WAYYY too much.
Unless it's a no hours museum piece.

I have $700 in mine including purchase price and a few repairs.

both the sx and the big red are fine choices for what you wont atrike for if your just planing on trail rideing the sx is probebly the way to go but if you plain to go hunting and camping the big red is a bit better if your dubeling your wife on the back the big red semes to be a bit more stable but ther both good trikes.

I have had the SX and BR at the same time. Im 6'3 285 lbs and I prefer the BigRed hands down. It will go anywhere the SX will go and is more comfortable. Has more ground clearance also. It has the front and rear racks also. I sold my SX because I didnt ride it much after I got my 87 BigRed. I love it. It does feel a little heaver, but that doesnt bother me a bit. I can ride a wheelie for a mile on it still. You also dont have to wory about the front forks as much. The SXs are a little weak in my book.

    Clay is 100% right.
Your size should be a BIG factor in your decision.
I'm 6'2", 190 lbs. and the SX is a WEE bit small for me yet still comfortable.
My buddies tell me I look HUGE on it but it doesn't FEEL that way.

The Big Red would be more comfortable for a bigger person.
But the SX is a more maneuverable, sportier, LIGHTER trike.

If you had the choice of picking up an SX or an ES at the same price, you would be getting better value (IMO) if you got the BigRed. Relatively the same power, more stable ride, RACKS (you won't believe how much you'll use them!) and a more confident feel (it just feels BIGGER). Not degrading the SX in any way, just touting the benfits of Big Red when cost will influence your decision.

You can't go wrong with either of the two, but if you're asking me - I'd go with BigRed!!
