Is there a 200/225 or something kit available for the 185?
Any performance mods? Not looking for 100000 HP just the most I can get out of it and still have reliability.
thanks

buy a 200 top end and bolt it on.

Piston upwards you mean?
Rods are same length... sounds too easy!
Anyone know of any 200 top ends forsale, prefer in Aussie or NZ maybe...
thanks
Head, cyl, and piston is all a bolt on job. The 200 is essentially a bored 185!
Actually, why not just pick up a good complete 200cc pull start engine and bolt that in!
I have a Clymer manual and it says the 185 has 8:1 compression and the 200's (except the 200x) have 7.6:1. So would you actually be loosing power if you made the switch even though the 200 has a bigger bore?
probably not. the 185 cylinder can be bored so many times it isn't funny. you can buy a 200X piston, have your 185 cylinder bored to that size and still have plenty of cylinder left over. you will notice a big power difference. you might want to consider re jetting the carb. also. just refer to your manual for 200X jetting specs. if you can find a 200X carb that would be great because it's a little bigger. i don't know if the 200X cam is different or not, but if it is you might want to consider that as well.

Thanks guys, Im in Australia, so trike spares are rare as rocking horseOriginally Posted by wizzard
. Looking on Ebay there is a LOAD of stuff there.. the Trike scene in USA seems to be HUGE.... Sadly it aint there
so performance parts/pipes are VERY expensive..
I dont have the bike yet, it gets freighted down next week, and its not running, "sticky valve" apparently.. But for $150au($75us) I wasnt going to say no! And its complete.
So was going to do rings and top end anyway, thought I would ask!
Anyone got a 200x carb going cheap![]()
if you're going to be in the head of the motor, i would recomend stiffer valve springs. with a flat top piston, like the 200X stocker, you don't "need" it, but i found it makes a difference in the higher rpm range by eliminating valve float. (it gets those valves closed quicker)

But if you can get me one freighted to Aussie for $100 inc buying it![]()
Purchase an early model XR 200 Wiseco piston kit. 65.5 mm !0 to 1 compression and a 2.5 mm overbore required. Plenty left in the sleeve. Also, ring around the motorcycle wreckers and get a '79 to '82 model XR 200 carb. Bolts on with a small amount of grinding to match the 185s manifold to the XR carb. Run a pod air filter straight on the carb.
I am in Australia and can get you a good deal on the piston kit.
