Whats with the 85/86 tecate confusion??

Just an observation. Especially in ATV trader and my local newspapers. For months now Many Many people list 85 tecates as 86s and 87s I dont see it that much on ebay. Its not an insult just curiosity. Is there anybody on this board that has no tank shrouds that believes their tecate is an 86 and if so why? Am I missing something. Whats with all the confusion???

Other smaller or lesser known companies, such as Tiger ATV, Franks, and Cagiva, produced racing three wheelers, but in much smaller numbers. Few of these machines are known to exist today and are highly sought by collectors.

When I called an owner on a 200X, I asked what color the plastic was, what it said on the seat, how many gears it had, etc. He described an 86 model perfectly. I asked what year it was, he said "oh its a '92, the last year they made 'em".

I can tell you why this happens, ...............nobody gives a chit except us!

Yup I've noticed the same thing. Especially in the Traders as you said.

Saw one in the local cycle trader today myself. Thought about calling to correct him.

i would guess that people think that they are a year newer than they are is becuse they bought them in 86 as the latter year models.......
