    measuring bolt pattern

    Ok say i found an old set of rims from a trike or quad,how would i measure the bolt pattern on these to figure out what they fit?

    hey thanks thats exactly what i needed,i was on dennis kirk lookin at rims but never seen that chart...

    ok i read it and it makes sence except for 1 part,the rims i have are 4 bolt so the measurement would be (4/whatever the mesurement is?)do i take the measurment in millimeteres?like if it was 148 millimeters for example that would mean my rims are 4/148???is this how it works is it in millimeters?the diagram doesn't tell me.

    what bike is it for? it also has a list of bikes and what th stock bolt pattern is. I can check for you

    well i'm not sure hwat there for,i got them for free and wanna find someone who can use them thats why i need to be able to measure the pattern so i'll know what they fit...

    yes... it's in mm. On a four bolt, I think you measure center to center between 2 of the bolts across the center of the wheel.

    yeah thats what i was thinking,thats how i understood it in the picture,and i figured MM cause the numbers where all like 4/148 and 4/156..thanks for the help guys now once i measure the rims is there a way i can find out what bikes take that pattern?

    4/156 is whats on my Tecate. Thats a popular size. Got Fast Trekkers for that size. The 149mm Doesnt sound right. It may be, but they are probably 4/156. Good score if they are.

    the one i am referring to is in the paper catalog, i cant even get around on the website because it just closes all of a sudden.

    i gotta measure the bolt patteren then i'm gonna see what bikes they fit...thats why i was looking for the list,like say it's 4/156,i just wanna a be able to say ok they'll fit a fourtrax but they'll also bolt up to a bayou.....i'm just trying to figure out every kinda bike they'll fit..

    be careful too, some rims wont wit if thier drum brakes, liek the r rims wont for a 250sx, but a 350x rim will fit the sx, its kinda complicated.
