86 R brake troubles- please help

i recently replaced the front rotor, pads, and front brake line on my 86 R. I am using a s.s. braided line, and i also replaced the caliper slide boots. When i jack the front end up and spin the tire - there is a little drag. then if i squeeze the brake hard and let go, there is more drag, and it doent seem to go away. Ive riddin up and down the driveway, and used the brakes hard, and the breaks are smoking. When it cools i can push the caliper back a little to make the wheel spin more freely. How do these things work? It seems as though there is too much pressure or something. Someone please help!

Did you bleed the caliper after you installed all the new parts? Sounds to me like you may have air still traped in the line.

ive done alot of bleeding. Could it have anything to do with the caliper slides? the pistons and seals were in good shape when i took it apart for cleaning

I don't think it's air. Air would give you a spongy brake not a sticking one. I'd say it has to be sticking slides or sticking piston. I'd guess the piston is not retracting but it's hard to say with out looking at it.
You could also try cracking the bleeder and if that releases the drag the mastercylinder my not be releasing the pressure.

should there be any drag at all without ther brakes applied, and noise from the rotor at all? what would cause the slides to stick?

The only thing that I can think of that would cause the slides to stick is lack of lubrication or rust. That's kind of the same thing I guess.
