How about tell them to eat your dust when your 20+ year old, 1/8th the cost relic spanks their high $$$ glorified golfcarts.

A good response is: "Wanna race?"
    Trike: 1 Quad: 0
After I make my arguments about why I like trikes, some guy on a 650 or 700 quad will inevitably say, "Yeah, but I can go places you can't."
And I say, "That's true. I can go places you can't, too."
Naturally, they never believe me. So I say, "Follow me, then," and then I drive right between the dense trees in the forest where their behemouths cannot fit between the trees.
    Trike: 2 Quad: 0

The best one was once I was out riding on winter trails and the same scenario played out. There was three inches of hard crust on top of the snow, once you went off the groomed trails, and that's plenty to hold up the weight of me and my trike but it will never hold the weight of a quad. So when I said "follow me, then," I turned and drove over top of the snow across a field. Of course, the 800 lbs quad immediately sank up to his racks.
I won $20 on a bet that time!

    Trike: 3 Quad: 0

takes more skill, not everyone has one, ask if theirs will still be running after 20+ years.

when i had my 200X, my buddy (who had a 250EX at the time) said all 3 wheelers should be taken apart and melted down, they are slow and un safe, so i said, ok, wanna race then? if its so slow

well, you know what happens next, we take off, he gets me in the holeshot, i hit 3rd gear and blow past him in a wheelie, talk about the look on his face when my 1986 200X beats his 2002 honda 250EX, mind you, when he bumped up to a 400EX with pipe and cam, it was a different story

the suzuki kingquad 700 EFI smokes my SX pretty good... but in 20 years from now with all those fancy electronics..... i'm positive it won't be soo fancy anymore.

I like the nostalgia of trikes.. it's what i can afford to ride, plenty fast for the size of my balls , and it's reliable.

If i had 10k in the bank, sure.. i'd have a case of quadrapalegicalitis but not on my budget.

I can go out and have FUN with my trike.. i can run it thru the bush.. scuff up my already worn plastics.. and not worry about it.

I"m sure my neighbor would litteraly cry if he even put his new toy on it's side.. let alone roll it. Me on the other hand... check all bones for solid connections.. fingers move.. head still atached.. flip bike back on it's wheels .. push the start button and GO.

What more can you ask for.

trikes compare to quads like apples to oranges..
