Yamaha 225 YTM DXK DXL and DRS ????

Found a new stock piston rings and pin for sale for a 225 Dx . My question is it lists that the piston and parts are for a 84-86 dxk/dxl or an 86 drs. I have a 1985 DX and aminterested in the parts but have no clue what my trike is be it a dxl dxk or drs. How can I tell and what do all these stand for?

I had a 225 DR. It was black with reverse. I believe the "R" in DR stands for reverse. As for the others I dont know.

85 should be a 225DXN or a 225DRN, depending upon if it has reverse or not. In either case, the motors were basically the same, so you are safe buying that piston and rings.

    Hey... welcome to the board!

I don't have any pics of my 225 dx . I just bought it about 2 weeks ago and need to do some work. It is yellow with no reverse though. I just got my new rear replacement bearings in the mail today and will see if I can succeed with that project. I have been looking at the schematics of the rear end and am trying to decide how hard the bearings will be to change. No problem if the axle will slide all the way out of the existing bearings without pulling the shaft drive gearbox. Good luck to me.

The axle slides right out. Just have to tap on it for the 1st 2" or so. Here is what it looks like on the inside.

You remove it (veiwing from behind) L to R. The rotor side bearing stays on axle as you remove it.

Got my bearings in tonight. Only mess I made was that I beat it out of the rear end by tapping on the left rear with a 1inch chunk of brass bar. Well as you can guess I messed up the threads where the cotter pin fits in the hollow part of shaft. I had to cut the end off to good threads usea thinner flat washer and redrill for a cotter pin. Otherwise it was an ok job. Thanks for the help.
