    Restortation Dilemna, about a 250r

Ok, heres the deal, i starting to work on a 85 250r and going to make it showroom new, like many of the people out there, the bike will have new oem plastic, fresh motor, powdercoat frame, new decals, with cables, tires.(have all of it, but no time yet). but im thinking for the swingarm, i was going to make it a light gray, versus the old gold? I thk the gold is dated, and i prefer the gray, was still going to pro link it up and all.. any thoughts? This bike will NEVER hit the dirt again.. just going to sit in a nice heated garage... gray or gold?

This will be a time capsule item then? If you want to show people what they really looked like "back in the day" you should use the gold.

If you're going for a restoration to original specs, then gold is the way to go. I personally am not returning my '85R to original trim. I'm doing away with gold and blue in the color scheme of my machine. I'm going with polished wheels, red hubs, red seat cover, silver swingarm, red shock spring, and custom stickers replacing blue with white/red.

    This has got me thinking.

It seems as though GOLD is the only color to go with, but what about .......... GOLD PLATING !!

I was just thinking, I didn't actually consider the cost.

    swingarm

Chrome it man, it looks kill, I can email you a pic of my swingarm off a 85' 250R, and mine is extended 1 foot. It cost me $100 to chrome it with know some guys who did it but you will probably only pay $200 for it, and powdercoating will cost atleast $100.

PS-I am finishing my 85 250R project, its fun.

Well I would say Grey it if I had to choose, but i would also go with chrome rims and not the original gold... I don't really understan dpeople "restoring" these biikes. I would rather see one of them set up and Different, then 10 of them restored (well maybe not but still.....) Try something original.
