    CDI unit ?

    Does anybody know about putting a gm hei control unit in place of a cdi box and what would be the pros and cons of doing this ?How would you wire it in :?:

    I don't think you could do that,,, if you can please let me know,,, I have never heard of it though

    you can, it would be big because it is made for multiple cinlinders, also, you have to set it up right, or you can blow it

    what machine do you want to put it on. it will probably need 12volts DC to run. i know that on the 300ex and 250x the cdi's are different because the 300ex runs a battery and it's cdi is made to run on 12volts DC versus the 250x's AC voltage. and in a GM vehicle it has 12V DC. also i don't think the hei module would work very well because it doesn't control advance like a cdi does. on GM's either the ditributor weights or PCM control the advance.
